Olivia: Class of 2027
I thought writing blog posts for seniors was hard last year with my youngest graduating. This year isn't any easier. I have had the honor of being one of Olivia's softball coaches since she was about seven years old and not long after that, I also got to coach her in field hockey. Most importantly though, friendships were formed between our family members and we got to spend quite a few summers camping together and creating some pretty epic memories. While the past couple years have gotten quite busy for all of us and we haven't spent as much time together, I can say that this is one of those friendships that still works but just works differently now. We may not talk every day, but when we do, we just pick up right where we left off. Those are the best kind of relationships.
As I was editing Olivia's sneak peek, it was still easy for me to see a little girl who could spend hours at a campground making mud pies (and apparently mud dresses) with my little girl. I could still see the dramatic younger teen years and hear her voice the night she was riding with me when a deer hit my car and the dramatic events that unfolded just after that. And I could see now the beautiful young woman she is turning into. How the mud pies were the beginning of her creativity and those dramatic years taught her how to remain empathetic and to never lose her grit and determination.
Olivia, it has been such a joy to watch you grow and an honor to coach you over the years. I hope you have so much fun your senior year and I cannot wait to continue to cheer you on in your next adventures <3
